Blanton Museum of Art

The only art museum in Austin with a permanent collection to speak of is Blanton Museum of Art. Located at the edge of the university campus in downtown Austin, the Blanton is the largest university museum in the United States. Inside the 180,000-square-foot complex are both temporary and permanent exhibits, and outside is an attractive public plaza with views of the State Capitol. The Blanton's permanent collection includes some 17,000 works of art, including Old Master paintings and contemporary American art, and is proud to be one of the largest public collections of Latin American art in the United States. Works by notable artists include Pablo Picasso, Peter Paul Rubens, and Fernando Botero.
