Guero's Taco Bar

Guero's Taco Bar In 1994 the old Central Feed & Seed building was transformed into this fabulous taqueria. The aged brick walls are adorned with giant photos from the Mexican Revolution. The dining is casual, the handmade corn tortillas are excellent, and the margaritas are a local favorite. The portions are hearty, and the food, such as the shrimp fajitas, is truly mind-blowing. Let's not forget the self-serve salsa bar, which is a crucial part of the experience. Former President Bill Clinton loved this restaurant--hence his favorite dish is called the "El Presidente."

I don't care that some locals don't like Guero's for whatever reason. Guero's doesn't pretend to be something it is not. It's reliably good food in a great old building, with a heart warming atmosphere. Because of this, and because it's on South Congress, Guero's is my favorite place to take visitors.
